Carolina Banc (1964) lives and works in Cluj. She graduated from the Graphic Department of the "Ion Andreescu" Institute of Fine Arts in Cluj. She participated in the Atelier 35 events. Her first solo exhibition was in 1987 in Târgu Mures, together with Timotei Nădășan. In the early 1990s he turned to graphic design and hi-end image retouching.

Carolina Banc's art, like that of her partner Timotei Nădășan, was developed in the environment of the graphic arts section of the Institute of Fine Arts in Cluj and Atelier 35, where experimentation with graphic duplication techniques reached a very high and sophisticated level. In Carolina Banc's works, virtuosity does not dominate the image but is subordinated to the expression of the psychology of human relationships. Thus, the drawn and engraved line moves across a broad scale of expression, from harshness to uncertainty and tenderness.
