Description

'I live in Timisoara. I was born in a hill village in Transylvania. Growing up in a world full of traditions, alive with animals and plants, made magical thinking come naturally to me. I draw with pencils, with ink, with pigments, with textile threads, with scissors, on paper or in it, on cloth or porcelain, in soap; poems or images, moving from the plane to three dimensions. At other times I photograph states, relationships, the almost unseen, or the energy, the wake of actions.

I am a character and creator – it’s a concentrated expression of how I find myself in art, shamanism, new unifying theories of physics, transpersonal psychology, and mysticism. I practice art as an everyday alchemy, similar to the anonymous creations of children and women. When I believe in the sacredness of matter it is empowered, dynamic, transformable, free to change structure and form. It can become an art.

I have created my mythologies that can be decoded on different levels, with characters and archetypes: The Witch, The Mushroom, The Dwarf, The Giant, The Nativity, Tom Bombadil's Sisters, and Tesla.

In this inner journey, I explore the relationship between my always-restructuring introspective femininity and art as a vehicle. In my mythology, I communicate with the me lost for thousands of years in a society that has ignored the feminine but is finding its Power. ' (Ana Adam, 2023)

The drawing I Know is part of a larger series that explores the heroine's journey and offers a unique perspective on individualization. It depicts the protagonist's quest to become her best self, a process that involves confronting the raw energy of death before fully embracing life. The heroine, La Llorona, from a Mexican legend, reaches a pivotal moment in which she sees no option but to commit infanticide, which leads to her haunting the rivers. Eventually, the water washes away the traces of death, making way for new life.
