Camilia Filipov (b. 1990, Taraclia, Republic of Moldova) lives and works in Cluj and in the mountains of Romania. She studied sculpture at the University of Art and Design Cluj (2010-2015) and at the École Supérieure des Arts Saint-Luc, Liège (2012-2013), one semester Erasmus scholarship.
Camilla Filipov's art blends natural spontaneity and geometric precision, reflecting symmetry, harmony, and a playful innocence. Nature is her subject, tool, and material. Her dynamic, outdoor drawings change over time, their fading colors adding an ephemeral quality. Her process starts with observing nature's colors and using local flora to create a new image. This element of surprise and evolution keeps her constantly exploring new landscapes and plants. Her drawings, starting from white, fade over time, hinting at a return to white, thus embodying their life cycle. This transience reflects the ever-changing nature of her subject matter itself.
