Gwen (b. 2001) is a visual artist who lives and works in Bucharest. Her interests overlap with various concepts that define the notions of obscurity, power, violence, religion, magic, and pleasure. Gwen is captivated by problematic characters from literature, film, and real life, whose charisma is captured in dark scenes abounding in symbols. The idea of isolation and metamorphosis is omnipresent in her latest series of works. During her studies at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, and then at Hochschule der Bildenden Künste Saar (Saarbrücken, Germany), she experimented with different plastic modes, from painting to installations and from ceramics to soft (textile) sculpture, mainly employing a dramatic language. In 2022 she staged her first solo show, “Floating through an Endless Dream”, at Galeria Posibilă, Bucharest, Romania.

Haunted Castle delves into the concept of solitude within a haunted setting, where the past is omnipresent and the present is absent. The protagonist, depicted as a transformed ant, carries a burden of mystifying and unsettling events, traversing a troubled world in disarray, gradually diminishing in vitality. Like the Pyramids of Giza, whose origin remains uncertain — speculation has it that they are the work of extraterrestrials or perhaps of a deity — this "haunted castle" is constructed from the karma of a past life that is impossible to recall.
