Sasha Bandi (b. 1989) lives and works in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He holds a BA and MA in painting from the National University of Arts, Bucharest, and is currently pursuing PhD studies at the University of Art and Design, Cluj-Napoca. Bandi has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, both in Romania and abroad, among the most important being those at Bazis Contemporary Art Gallery, Berlin, Istituto Romeno di Cultura e Ricerca Umanistica di Venezia, Italy, Quadro Gallery, Mobius Gallery in Bucharest and Biju Gallery in Cluj-Napoca. His works have been exhibited in galleries in New York, London, and Berlin.
Bandi’s style is characterized by a fusion of traditional and modern techniques, combining painting with elements of collage, sculpture, and mixed media techniques. His works are deeply influenced by social and personal traumas. He addresses painful and controversial topics, from mechanisms of rejection and social stigmatization to human fragility. Sasha Bandi uses vibrant colors and geometric shapes to reproduce the energy and diversity of the urban environment.
