Norbert Filep (b.1990) is a Romanian contemporary artist who lives and works in Cluj-Napoca. In the past few years his output has ranged through different practices, mainly articulated by the use of the medium of drawing as a central mechanism for his conceptual approach to abstraction. He is engaged in discovering new possibilities in abstraction by redefining different processes of generating information through accumulation and repetition.
Page No. 2 is part of the series Pages From an Abstract Notebook. This series explores abstraction through writing, using its logistics as a generative mechanism for synthesis. Rather than using letters or numbers, this abstract writing utilizes geometric shapes sourced from templates previously used in technical drawing. Filep uses repetition as a form of understanding the accelerated society we live in, compressing it to abstract outlines.
